Trying to create solar eclipse without pixelated/blurry imaging

Community Beginner ,

Hello all,

I've been researching how to create a good solar eclipse for weeks for a company logo. The tricky part was it also needed to be transparent. I found a few tutortials that helped me create the attached image. However, it ended up blurry. I have tried to research my way around why this is and how to fix it, but to no avail. I created this ecplise by using layered elipses, each with their own colored gradient and added the Roughen effect to the outer most elipse. then I created several transparent masks to make the moon look transparent. Is there any other way I can do this that won't make it so pixelated and blurry? Thank you in advance.

I figured out that somehow there was a feather effected added I didn't know about 😳 that's what was causing the intense blurriness.

look under the effect menu for your document roster effects setting. Set it up to 300 PPI. That should solve the pixelated look.

Thank you! I tried that and it didn't work, so I looked around a bit more. Turns out, I figured out that somehow there was a feather effected added I didn't know about 😳So sorry to waste your time. That's very helpful though!

Since it is a logo ...

Will you ever need to cut it to have it on company signage?

Or any other special technique?

In that case you cannot use raster based effects, such as glow or blur or any of that.

If you just want a version that is purely vector based, you could check out blends or gradient meshes. But you probably will not be able to achieve the same visual appearance.

Keep in mind that pixelation and blurriness are two different things. Your original post mentioned both.
