Type on Path Flips when transforming

Community Beginner ,
Jun 19, 2024 Jun 19, 2024

I posted about this a few weeks ago and got no help so I am trying again.

I have created a suite of icons that have type running on a path.

Whenever I transform type on a path, it flips around and I have to reset it manually.

If I scale it by typing in the percentage, it is ok, however, this isn't always an option.

Outlining is not an option as I need to keep the type live to create more icons.

How can I get some help with this??

I am using Desktop version.

Illustrator 28.5

Mac OS Sonoma 14.4.1.

Hello @GG_Nat,

Sorry for the delayed response. I am still checking this with the team with the files/screen recording you shared earlier. Kindly allow me some time while I get back to you with more details.

Thanks,
Anubhav

Hello @GG_Nat,

Thanks for your patience. Our product team has tried addressing this in the latest Illustrator Beta build 28.7 / Prerelease build 28.6. Would you mind trying to install it from the Creative Cloud Desktop app and check if this problem reoccurs with new files?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Hi there
I can't download the desktop version of Illustrator Beta. Only the web version.

Hi @GG_Nat

Could you please try signing out of your account and then signing back in? This often resolves such issues.

If the problem persists, could you please share a screenshot of the Beta section of your Creative Cloud Desktop app? This will help us better understand the issue and provide a more targeted solution.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation.

Regards,

Srishti

Not sure I understand the question.

Looking at your screen capture you have type above and below the icon.

I have always done that using two separate type on path so that I can align the top and bottom type to the paths accordingly.

Thanks for your help Barbara.

Adobe have declared it a bug and are working on the fix.
The screen capture is what the bug does. They are created on two separate paths. The bottom type flips to this position rather than sitting on the original path (upright)

Hi @GriffinGrace

Could you please confirm if installing beta version helps to resolve the issue?

Hi Srishti
Unfortunately, it worked on one, but not the other.

Sorry, just to clarify that GriffinGrace and GG_Nat are the same people.
I have multiple accounts with you as I run a studio.

Thanks for clarifying. Using Illustrator 28.4.1, transforming still works correctly. Is it an option for you to use the previous update?

Thanks Barbara. Was yours broken in the recent version also? The beta doesnt work either.
It has been broken for me for a few years! I have only just gotten on to fixing it as I am scared that I will send an artwork off with the flipped type and miss it. On multiple computers/versions/OS also.
