Unable to copy paste text as formatted with same font & Alignment in Illustrator v25.4.1 on macOS

Hi All!

I am unable to copy and paste text in Illustrator and keep the formatting (e.g: same font, allignment etc). It's incredibly annoying!

Has anyone come accross this and do they have any solutions to keep the formatting in place when pasting?

I'm using Illustrator 2021 (version 25.4.1) on a mac (up to date with updates), using the copy command cmd+ v.

Sorry to hear about your experiences. I would request you to share a few more details like:

• Is the issue related to a specific document? If yes, could you please share the document with us? You can upload it to the Creative Cloud (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/share.html) and share the download link.
• When did this start happening? Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates, or web extensions installed recently.
• Are there any apps running in the background? If yes, close them one by one and see if that helps resolve the issue?
• Are you using any third-party clipboard tools?
• Are you copying-pasting within Illustrator or copying from somewhere else and then pasting it in Illustrator?
• A small video demonstrating the issue could be really helpful.
• Does manually resetting Illustrator Preferences (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/illustrator/using/setting-preferences.html) help to resolve the issue?
  • Close all Adobe applications.
  • Go to these locations and rename all the Adobe Illustrator folders:
   ~/Library/Caches (AI_25_4 rename to AI_25_4.old)
   ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe (Adobe Illustrator 25 rename to Adobe Illustrator 25.old)
   ~/Library/Preferences (Adobe Illustrator 25 Settings rename to Adobe Illustrator 25 Settings.old)
  Disclaimer: Please note that resetting/ renaming the preferences folders will remove all the custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folders in case you want to.

Also, you may try opening the app in Safe Mode and see if you are able to copy-paste text as formatted.
