Unable to transform object. Error: The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error [NOKY]

Hey,

one of our users is experiencing the mentioned error (The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. [NOKY]), if she tries to scale a vector graphic with CTRL+T. Doesn't matter if shes shrinking or largening it. The error comes in the moment, she touches the edges of the graphic. Everytime she does it. BUT only in a specific document. Other documents, with the same or even bigger canvas sizes are working fine. She already had this error some time ago and I fixed it with the answer mentioned in this post: https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator/quot-the-operation-cannot-complete-because-of-an-unknown-....

Problem now is, I can't do the same, since there is no new "extention" folder I could rename into old. Only the other _old folder. Tried to remove or rename it to the original name already. Nothing helped.

She's using Windows 10 up2date and Illustrator with version 25.2.3 since version 25.3 and above got this annoying bug, that the pattern/color of graphics changes if they get copied, moved or similar.

Already tried to reinstall Illustrator and to reproduce the error with the same file on different computers. Didn't work. It's only on this specific computer with this specific file.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about this error. As this is a specific file issue on a specific computer, I would suggest you to try these steps:

  • Rename the CEP folder, for example, as CEP1:

    Mac: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP1.

    Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CEP1.

  • Rename the UXP folder, for example, as UXP1:

    Mac: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/UXP1.

    Windows: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\UXP1.

If this doesn't resolve this issue, I would request you to share the file. You can upload it to the Creative Cloud (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/share.html) and share the download link.

Let us know how it goes. We will be looking forward to your response.

Thanks & Regards,
Anshul Saini

I'm curious as to why you would use ctrl+T for scaling. Unless you've changed your keyboard shortcuts, ctrl+T just opens the Character panel. If you have changed it, we have no way of knowing what tool you are trying to use, or whether that is relevant to the problem.

Thanks,
Peter
