I am wanting to use the width tool to widen the stroke of the red line to match the black line, but when I get the bounding box to the desired size, it goes all wonky and uneven like this. I want it to be even on both sides. As you can see, the width point edit box claims that the sides are both the same, but it is not appearing as such.
Help would be appreciated!

Can you select that path and show the Appearance panel?
Or maybe upload a demo file that contains this path? Change the file extension to PDF in order to upload here.

Let me know if this helps. There are a few lines doing this on the bottom of the front face of the cube and a few lines on the top face as well.
I don't know if this is noteworthy or not, but it seems to only happen at the beginning/end of a path, depending on which direction the path is going.

Does it still do that when you do View > Preview on CPU?
It does not do that for me.

Sorry for delayed response, I didn't see this. Yes it still looks the same when I do preview on CPU...
Could that mean a hardware difference?

Hello @Kayla Danforth,
We understand that encountering technical issues can be frustrating. Would you mind sharing some more details, like the exact version of the OS/Illustrator, system config (CPU/GPU/Memory), a public link to a sample Ai file after uploading it to Dropbox/Google Drive/etc., and a screen recording of the problem (https://adobe.ly/4byfbZb), so we can investigate this further?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks,
Anubhav

I am using Illustrator 28.5, Intel Core i3-4330 CPU, Intel HD Graphics 4600 GPU, and 16GB memory.

You'll notice that a lot of the strokes have been fixed, I found a bit of a workaround (adding a second width node right before the end of the stroke, instead of adjusting the width at the very end of the stroke). This worked for most of them but isn't exactly ideal.

Please let me know if you have any issues.
