Updated to the most recent Illustrator and tools are missing

I keep finding other things that are missing, saving options, etc. but for the moment I'd be happy enough getting my dang lassos back so i can get back to work.

Regular lasso is there, polygonal and magnetic are not. Searches suggested editing the toolbar...the ability to edit the toolbar also seems missing. Looked up instructions to edit toolbar, which basically start with "click this"...but there's no this to click. So glad I updated in the middle of a big job.

There is no polygonal or magnetic lasso in Illustrator.

You are probably talking about Photoshop.

Well, considering I was using the polygonal lasso in Illustrator ten minutes before i updated, I have to disagree. You may be correct about the magnetic lasso as I hardly ever use it, but I KNOW there was a polygonal one. In my previous set up, it was my default.

No, in Illustrator there was never a polygonal lasso tool.

Hi Kel,

Which version of Illustrator were you previously working with? Just to confirm, you're currently using CC 2017?

Some tools are hidden beneath one another, here's a full list of the tools available in the current tool panel: How to work with tools in Illustrator

Best,

Wren

I was in 2015, I believe. I avoided updating because updates bring this kind of nonsense. I'm now on 2017 and it appears by the info at your link there is no polygonal lasso. Which sucks. As contrary to Kurt Gold's assertion, there WAS and i used it constantly.

It's not an assertion, it's the truth.

There is no polygonal lasso and there has never been one in Illustrator. You can go back to CC 2015 or Illustrator CS5 or Illustrator 10: No polygonal lasso available.

That's a lot.

I'd agree with Kurt's assertion; I find Illustrator's ordinary Lasso only marginally useful in some situations, and I'd love it (and would know) if there was a polygonal one. Are you sure it wasn't some plugin or other? Where was it on the toolbar?

Just a quick Google image search for "Illustrator Toolbar" turned it up, Doug.

If there is no "Polygonal Lasso Tool" we should not confuse the issue by suggesting we look for "hidden" tools.
