Using Illustrator for laser cutting

Community Beginner ,
Mar 11, 2021 Mar 11, 2021

I've drawn a circle with no fill and set the stroke width to .025.  When I send the file to the laser to cut, and press Go, it immediately says done, as if there's nothing on the page to "print" or cut.  How do I use Illustrator with a laser cutter?  I've looked in this particular laser's manual and they use CorelDraw, not Illustrator.  I've also found that every video I watch on laser cutting with Illustrator uses a different stroke width, and some simply say the line has to be RGB Red in order to cut.

Your document is cmyk, so if RGB Red is what is needed you need to change it.

What file format are they recommending - your laser cutter shouldn't care if it comes from Draw or Illy just that the format is correct.

I would try a format that is more universal, try .pdf or .eps...

Just ignore that first line! I was looking at the first doc not the actual doc with the circle.

I can't find a specific format recommendation.  I've tried Ai and SVG.
