Variable font lost all values - listed as missing fonts

I opened a file I was working on yesterday that uses Roboto Flex, but all of my variable font values are completely gone. Instead I get a missing fonts warning.

If I was using Roboto Flex Bold, it now shows as:

• RobotoFlexNormalNormalNormalNormalNormalNormalNormalNormalNormalDefault

Anyone experiencing this issue? Know of a fix?

Did you check if there is a newer version of that font available?

Did you already reboot the computer?

Here are the steps I have taken so far:

1. Rebooted, checked the file - no change.
2. Rolled back to the previous version of AI (28.5) I was using when I created the file, rebooted - no change.
3. Removed my current version of the typeface from my Font Book, rebooted, downloaded a new copy of the typeface from Google - no change.
4. Reinstalled the latest version of AI (28.6), rebooted - no change.

I still have access to Roboto Flex in my Character Panel, but I have to reassign Roboto Flex Bold to the copy and make my adjustments via the Variable Font options. But I am hesitant to use any of the options in this or future projects.
