Very High power usage in Illustrator freezes the program

When I work in Illustrator with big exhibition panel files, Illustrator freezes due to Very High power usage (see attached screen shot of task manager). I have plenty of CPU and Memory. Help!

I am having the same problem with a very simple file, turning layers on and off takes minutes and it say 25% cpu and VERY HIGH power usage. Unworkable

How large is the file?

How many objects?

What hardware are you running it on?

It's a dieline and usually those shouldn't be altered.

But of course you could try the simplify funcion. It might not reduce this, because the real issue with CAD files is that those dashed lines are really single paths for each dash. Maybe the (commercial) plugin VectorFirstAid can improve it. They have a trial period so you can check it out.

I don't know how much precision you need when working with it, so maybe it helps if you do not open it, but instead place and link it.

That app looks amazing. Maybe when the economy turns around they will open the wallet again.

The illy simplify/cleanup things didn't seem to help 😞

I am now rethinking, and will take a trip to the guys making these dielines to see if they are any options at export for them.
