Wacom Cintiq 16 Scrollbar issue

Hi everyone, wondering if anyone has had this problem.

When I using my Wacom tablet and click on the scrollbar (the actual slider, not the area above or below), the cursor gets locked onto it and I can't exit. When this happens the pen only slides the page up and down and can't select anything, it's like it needs an 'unclick' input to free it from this.

Nothing seems to work, spacebar, ctrl, mashing the keyboard etc doesn't do anything. I have to use my mouse and close the program and start it again, so now I will be happily working away and then absent mindedly click on the scrollbar and BOOM - I'm in an annoying situation where I need to close and re-open the program.

Yep, same problem. Had it on my older Wacom Intuos and just bought a brand new Wacom Intuos. Totally different hardware by several years, totally different drivers by several releases. Still the same problem. It may very well be related to Windows ink as people are saying but why then does this only occur in Illustrator? All my other application scroll bars work fine.

If the new 2025 model Intuos Pro tablets are still relying on Windows Ink I probably will not bother buying one. The people at Wacom seem totally oblivious to the anger-fueling situation going on with their tablets.

I'm not experiencing any issues with scroll bars with my old Intuos Pro tablet; but then again, I leave Windows Ink disabled in the tablet driver (which robs me of any pressure sensitive functions the tablet can offer).

If Windows Ink is enabled any actions that require press and hold gestures with the pen tip get hijacked. Windows Ink wants to use the gesture for some other purpose, like a substitute for right-clicking or something (despite the pen having mouse buttons on the side).

The problem is press and hold is required to do all sorts of things -like moving a scroll bar in an application window! You have to press and hold the pen tip to drag the scroll bar. The pen tip has to be pressed and held to drag UI panels around on the screen. The pen tip has to be pressed and dragged to use animated zoom in Illustrator. The pen tip has to be pressed and held to edit anchor points. The list goes on and on. Basically, if Windows Ink is enabled in the Wacom Tablet Driver the tablet becomes utterly not usable. The situation is that bad.

I really wish a lead developer at Adobe, someone who might have some pull or influence, could let people at Microsoft and Wacom know just what the heck is going on. This situation between Windows Ink and graphics tablets made by Wacom and others is one of the most idiotic things I've ever seen involving computer software and hardware. There is just no excuse for a problem this bad being allowed to persist for so many years. Windows Ink just plain sucks.

I just want to point out, it isn't Wacom who requires Windows Ink. I have several apps, like Maya as one example, that specifically require turning off Windows Ink for pressure sensitivity to work. This is definitely an adobe issue, not a Wacom issue. In fact, adobe are the only programs on my computer that I have the drivers set to use Windows Ink, because they require it.

If you pull the cable out of your tablet, wait a sec and put it back it seems to fix this issue.

I have the same issue and have had it for years with various WACOM tablets, various drivers (updated all the way) and multiple versions of Illustrator CC. It's incredibly disappointing that this is being ignored by Adobe. The nightmare workflow and UI issues because of this, incl. work lost in this screen doom loop are frustrating.

I've had this on Windows 10, now again on Windows 11, latest versions of driver and regardless of the Wacom product (I have two, an older Bamboo pen + touch and a brand new Wacom One. Both are always on the latest drivers).

The problems with Wacom tablets and other Wacom devices have nothing to do with Adobe. The real problem is Microsoft and their very bad choices for how graphics tablets work with the Windows operating system. Windows Ink is at the center of it. People at Microsoft and Wacom could solve these exasperating problems if they would just have some conversations with each other (and maybe with some input from Adobe).

If you're using a computer running Windows do you have Windows Ink enabled in the Wacom tablet driver? I have a Wacom Intuos tablet hooked up to my home computer. I have to leave Windows Ink disabled in the tablet driver. If I do enable Windows Ink Workspace (in order to use pressure sensitive functions in the pen) all sorts of other things happen that make me angry very quickly. Anything that involves a press and hold action with the pen tip, such as using animated zoom or dragging a slider setting, gets disabled. The on-screen handwriting pop-up window is also very difficult to fully disable. I've gone thru OS settings and even tried registry hacks to disable features in Windows Ink without it affecting the Wacom pen functions. Nothing works. Windows Ink is just very poorly designed software. And it's just exasperating that Wacom can't seem to develop a tablet driver that 100% bypasses Windows Ink.
