Hi there,

Really sorry to hear about this. We have released an update recently (1.0.3) with stability and bug fixes. Please update the app from the App Store and check if that helps. If not, please share the following details.

Does the app crash as soon as you launch it? If yes, please share some additional details so that we can assist you further. We'd need the crash logs which you could share with me over a direct message.

How to look for the crash logs:

I just had the same problem. Switched off Show Effects When Using Apple Pencil in Apple Pencil Settings and no more crashes. This must be a recent bug in AI or iPadOS because this never used to happen, unless I accidentally switched this feature on recently? Still a bug anyway. I see people having the Apple Pencil crash issue on Procreate forums too, so my money is it being a long term Apple issue being it's still happening years later!

Hello @Bradi157F,

We sincerely apologize for the trouble you're having with Illustrator on the iPad and want to help you get it running as soon as possible,

To help us with this, would you mind checking if all of your work is synced online (https://assets.adobe.com/cloud-documents)? If yes, kindly try deleting Illustrator, restarting your device, and then reinstalling the app to check if it helps. Also, check if the OS installed is up to date (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204204).

Did you also upgrade the system?

That was probably not a good idea.

I work in a school. This problem is happening on a bunch of student ipads
with various iOS levels (15.6, 16.6, 16.5,17.1). We do not use an Apple
Pencil with Adobe Illustrator.

Did this problem just start? Then please think about what changed.

Do all the iPads meet the technical rewuirements?

Yes, this problem just started back in September 2023 with 2 ipads, then another 3 ipads in October.  Adobe Illustrator worked fine before September.

Yes, our ipads meet technical requirements.  🙂

I have just started experiencing the same problem.  I am not using an Apple Pencil at this time and there is NO option to turn off "Show Effects" in the Apple Pencil settings on my IPad. I have updated everything. I have even selected "forget this device" for the Apple Pencil.  I am updated to 17.1.1.

I am working on a project and AI is the main program that I use.  Does anyone know what can fix this issue?

My Illustrator for iPad continues to crash. It opens to the Home Screen, but once I open a file, it crashes pretty much immediately.

I've updated the Apple Pencil setting. I've deleted and reinstalled the app. I am at the latest iOS. My iPad Pro was purchased two months ago.

Illustrator for IPad is still crashing. Pencil setting has been changed per recommendation. iPad is 2 months old. Latest iOS. Latest Illustrator...uninstalled and reinstalled.
