Farsi Language

Hi, I am using Illustrator CS5 on my MAC and I need to have Farsi text. It appears that when I copy and paste on to my art board, it shows up as X's in a box. I would assume that I need to install Farsi language. I did go into System Preference and added the Persion language, did not help to show in Illustrator. Can anyone advise what I need to do so that I can have Farsi text in Illustrator CS5?

Thanks

You need to set your OS to the language you want, by choosing input sources in your keyboard system preference..

To get features such as right to left paragraphs you need to purchase the ME Middle Eastern version of CS5., or upgrade to CC  and use Adobe Cloud app to install the language you need.

Does Farsi keyboard fall into Modern Arabic. I am curious as we have a client in Kuwait.

Even after adding Persian language to your OS, you'd need a supporting Illustrator. What Monika Gause suggested above is a good workaround if you want to stay on CS5 and not upgrade to latest Illustrator CC.

If you don't have access to an ME version, try the plug-in ScribeDOOR

Farsi (Persian) and Urdu languages has their own input keyboard in the Mac OS, as both languages have more characters compared to Arabic.
