no longer able to check, in/out

hi. hoping someone can give us some advice.

we're in the midst of building a 120-page doc for a client in InDesign (on a Mac, InDesign 17.1.0.50, MacOS Monterey, .icml files on local Dropbox), client has supplied 90 or so .icml files.

late yesterday our InDesign file crashed, and now we are unable to check in or out (or edit) of any of the content in our document. It's no longer an option in the InCopy menu when we right mouse click.

Suggestions?

i can confirm it is me (see screencap).
Unfortunately, the file the message is referencing is the one that crashed, and it is extremely unstable/crashed almost immediately upon opening.

Best course of action, IMO, would be simply delete all of the InCopy content and then re-export it.

What kind of workflow are you using here? Dropbox? OneDrive? Local network? Are you using assignments or just a layout workflow?

Is everyone on the same version of InDesign/InCopy?

I just checked your screenshot. That story is already checked out.

all the links are still there. but i can't seem to check in, and see the same edit/crossed out icon if i open the link in InCopy.

i can save a COPY of one of the inaccesible .icml files from with InCOpy, and immediately have the ability to check in/out, etc.

but that doesn't seem like the best solution from a workflow POV.   😕😕

Could be the links were broken with the crash. Are the stories showing up in the Assignments panel? The links panel?
