Hello, I got so frustrated about this matter while I got a deadline staring infront of me.

I'm on Window's recent build & Indesign's recent build

I was on a Laptop Making simple file, I tried to save it with a Packaging.

Suddenly, It froze for a long time,

didn't think too much, I relaunched the Indesign.

and the second Backup file was brought up, It froze.

So, I attempted to Forcefully close it down via task manager.

I closed down, and Indesign was STILL THERE, in a Frozen state.

I tried many things, but never seemed to close down.

I rebooted the entire OS and the Program, with a Fresh new file. and Guess what?

It still froze.

I tried to remove the cache but No such luck.

Rebooted the OS and the program countless time, but Still froze.

then I tried to Launch the same file, on my Desktop (instead of a Laptop)

and It seemed to launch well!

...Until, It froze again.

I was at a loss for words, I Relaunched OS and Program AGAIN, with a Fresh...

Oh, wait.

It froze on Home menu of Indesign.

Tried to Close it down via Taks manager, Deleted Cache, Tried to launch previous versions of Indesign, but Still froze.

Please, Help me.

My deadline is not gonna wait for me much longer!

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about your experience. You may try resetting the preferences manually and see if it helps. Please follow the instructions below to do that:

  • Close all Adobe applications.
  • Go to Locations :
  • C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Adobe
  • C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Adobe.
  •  Rename InDesign folders to InDesign.old
  • Launch InDesign from CC.

**Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and InDesign will launch with default settings. This way all your old settings will be saved in .old folders and InDesign will recreate new folders with default settings.

If it does not help, try creating a new user account on your machine and try to work on the app there. Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Ashutosh
