Adobe InDesign CC 2022 keeps crashing when trying to copy-paste

Just purchased an InDesign template from Adobe Express. When attempting to copy-paste items in this template, InDesign immediately crashes. Really unhelpful when trying to (re)design the original layout. Having to restart InDesign every couple of minutes gets quite frustrating. What to do? My InDesign CC is (automatically) updated, so I guess its the template that might be corrupt. Why sell a corrupt template in Adobe Express is the next anwer...hope someone can help me out!

Could be a font issue as well. Are you copying/pasting from and to the same document? Try changing the font of the text and see if it resolves the issue

This is happening to me as well, in document, with all fonts installed, using shortcut commands and point and click. You can't know how frustrating this is.

This thread is 2 years old relating to InDeisgn 2022

Can you please confirm what version of InDesign it's happenign for you and the Version number?
Also what your OS is and your system specs?

I am at the point where I believe some files aren't meant to mess with format. Even with credit, all the content is complete.

I feel you.

No real solution support I can find online.

If a document is not behaving well then try

File>Export

Choose IDML

Open the IDML in InDesign
Save the file as a new InDesign file with a new name
See if the issue persists.

----------

Try resetting your preferences:
The easiest way to reset everything is to delete the InDesign preferences: as soon as InDesign starts to boot hold down Shift, Alt, Ctrl (and Apple/Cmd if working on a Macintosh). A dialog will appear asking to delete the InDesign Preferences, select 'Yes' on this dialog.

Reinstalling rarely fixes everything - you can do a complete reinstall using the
Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html
