The bleed box gets changed in the pdf.

Hi @Ananya0 , Make sure you include the Bleeds on Export—see Marks and Bleeds:

You see in the pictures what gets changed: the borders.

The "borders" you're referring to are page boundaries and margin guides, these are non-printable elements.

To view your page without them, use the Preview option (or another view option, depending on how you'd like to see your document):

Also, the Display Performance settings have nothing to do with this.

Where is the "Normal Preview Bleed Slug Presentation" window? Acrobat removed the bleed.

To see what changes turn on the PDF boxes. Those are not visible.
The performance in your case is part of zhe file type you have used. Because these are vectors and text, they should have been created in Illustrator, saved as AI or PDF/X-4 file and imported/placed into InDesign.
Where did you create the content?

What files type did you use?

How did you bring them to InDesign?

I created the graphics in InDesign; I created everything in InDesign except pictures of sages, which I imported.

Did you set the bleed and/or slug settings in InDesign when you exported the PDF?

I like the bleed to show in the Acrobat file, particularly the inside/outside bleed, since the book will be spiral bound.

BTW, if you more showing than just the bleed, you can activate the slug area. It can extend up to 6 inches past the page edge on any side.

The display perfoprmance dialog you show us has nothing to do with whter the blled is included in the PDF. That's set in the Export options, and it is not included by default. Did you include a bleed allowance when you exported the book?

Crop marks are also not included in the default settings and must be set by you, if you want them. If you do, you should change the offset value to be at least as much as the bleed so they fall outside the bleed area.

In Acrobat > Preferences > Page Display, do you have "Show Art, Trim, and Bleed Boxes" turned ON?
