Align to Bleed – problem with inner bleed setting at 0

Indeed. I can see this also with my German InDesign 2025 v20.5.0.

A different example: If you move a page of a facing pages document down with the Page tool so that the inner bleed will not touch the facing page you see strange things happen:

The object will not move according to the outer bleed value of 5 mm, but to the value of the inner bleed which is 2 mm in the case above when using Align Left. And then it will move not to the inner bleed, but to the outer bleed of the facing page when using Align Right:

Means: Inner bleed does not work at all (facing pages document).

Top Align and Bottom Align will work with different bleed settings. Align Top:

Yup, same here. Looks indeed like a Bug.

I also noticed an object on the right hand page will not left-align to the left (inside) bleed of the page it's on, instead it pops over to the left page's bleed.

I suggest you leave your bleed settings in your Document Setup to 5mm all around, but change the Inside Bleed to 0 when you export to PDF.

I question your printer's request. As a prepresss person, we would never ask for this. Are you printing for a non-saddlestitch binding?
