Aligning text on the same line with bullet points in between

How do I align words of a list on the same line, but with a bullet point or any icon evenly spaced in between the words? I wasn't sure if I had to set a tab. I have a long list that will flow to the following line and I didn't know how to keep the text in alignment and add the bullet points.

APPLE (bullet point)ORANGE(bullet point)PEACH

Do you mind explaining how to do it? Not sure I would do it properly with copying and inserting.

We just had a discussion like this and some of us (cough, cough) were alerted/reminded of the function of the flush space.

If you set a paragraph to full justification, a flush space will expand or "spring" out to fill needed space. So if you construct your line with:

<FS>APPLE<FS>•<FS>ORANGE<FS>•<FS>PEACH<FS>

...those spaces will expand to equal distances. You insert flush spaces from the Type | Insert White Space menu. You can mix other space types that will not expand if, for example, you want the bullets to remain 'attached' to following words:

<FS>•<em>APPLE<FS>•<em>ORANGE<FS>•<em>PEACH<FS>

Happy to pass along this somewhat obscure bit. I was long used to the function in other apps, but it was always a tab feature — spring tab, expanding tab, etc. — and I managed to overlook that ID had the same feature hiding (1) on the space list (2) under the opaque name of Flush Space.

It was a joy to find the feature existed in ID and that it works with spaces on the ends (especially the right end) to allow auto-centering of text like this.

Flush spaces are flexible, em-spaces are a fixed width (according to font size)
