All in design files damaged

I updated my imac yesterday to Mac OS Ventura. After this, all my indesign files are damaged. I can open them and resave them on another computer, but even the resaved version is coming up as damaged on my computer. I've tried opening it with indesign 3022 and 2023

Any help would be appreciated as this has been months of work lost and I need to get these files working asap. Thank you

You should always check the requirements before updating

I just checked if Indesign should work with Mac OS Ventura and this is what I saw. Is this what you mean?

I have Indesign 18 and it still opens as a damaged file

Yes, unfortunately this didn't make a difference.

Thanks,

Why do you think your INDD files are damaged?

Your screenshot suggests that you have a hardware related problem with MacOS Ventura/GPU.

So I think Peters post shows the right direction.

Because when I try to resave it, the attached screenshot appears.

Are you working locally? Network? Dropbox/OneDrive/iCloud? If it's one of the cloud services then please be sure to turn off any smart sync features.

Does this also happen when you create a new document and try to save this new file?

Are your "damaged" files stored locally or on a network share?

If on a network share then try to copy the files to your Mac and open them locally.

Does the problem persist?

Thank you both for your reply.

The files are on my hard drive. I tried to copy it over to my mac and open it but unfortunately still opening like the original screenshot.

I did open quite an old file from last year and that seems to open fine (also on my hard drive). The main files I'm currently concerned about are about 18 files that I've been working on the last few months that all seem to open like my original screenshot.

Thank you,

Sara

At the moment I have no idea what is happening to your newer files.

But you wrote "The files are on my hard drive".

What exactly is this "hard drive"? An external storage drive? Connected to your iMac? Via USB or what else?

It is an external hard drive.

I also forgot to answer your other question. When I create and save a new file it looks like it works fine.

I think I may just have to start all over and create the files again.

Thank you for your help,

Sara

I suggest to make a health check of the external hard drive.

As it could be that this hard drive is partially defective.

And make a backup of all data on this hard drive on another hard drive, just to be sure.

Yes I was thinking it could be something to do with the hard drive. Thank you for all your suggestions, it's appreciated!
