All links broken when files moved to a new server

Hi

We recently got a new server installed. All our files have been migrated so that the entire folder structure is the same as it was on the old server, but the new server has a different name.

As a consequence all our links in InDesign are broken. We can manually relink everything as we go, but wondered if there is a way to point InDesign to the top level of the folder structure and then find its way to the links through all the sub folders. Maybe a script?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Steve

I was in your boat and found something shared on a random github page. It's awesome. Search for:

Found this article by Jeremy Howard at Creative Pro.

Also with a link to his script.

I wonder if it's possible to modify that script to only search for missing links?

Some of the links aren't broken – it's just the ones that are on the new server that are missing. The script checks them all regardless.

Don't get me wrong, that's not a bad thing and I really appreciate the script doing all the work for me, but it does feel like it is doing unnecessary work. So, if you're willing Kasyan, an option to just find the missing links would be a nice to have.

Thanks you though for the script as it stands!

Steve

@stevej61370215 Sure, why not?

Here's a new version. Please, let me know if it works for you.

Hi Kasyan

Thank you for modifying the script for me, however when I click your link it generates an error and can't open the page. Could you please check the link when you have a moment?

I have been buried in work the last week, so have only just got back to check for replies (for some reason I didn't receive the usual automated email that there was a reply).

Thank you
