Anchor object after a style

Hello

 

I have a situation which I am not able to tackle with.

 

I have lots of sub-headings with "subhead" paragraph style applied to it. I have a vector image which I need to place under each subheading. Currently I am doing it manually by anchoring it to the subhead and then position it. I have made an object style for that.

 

Is there a way to copy paste the vector line automatically to the whole file? There are lots of subheadings.

 

Same goes true for Main heading. For Main heading I am using a special banner applied to it. Manually its working but as I mentioned there are lots of it.

 

Find/Replace aint working. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

This sounds like a case where Find/Change SHOULD work. Perhaps you haven't set up the query properly.

Without more information about the text and file it's hard to be absolutley sure, but I would start with a GREP query that finds your subhead: .$ will locat the last character in a paragraph. Set the Find options to your subhead paragraph style so that only subheads are matched.

With your vector image on the clipboard, set the change to $0~c which is the found content followed by the formatted content of the clipboard. If you use an object style to set the anchored object positioning options and apply it to the vector before you put it on the clipboard, it should be postioned correcly after the Find/Change is run.

If this does not work, we need a lot more information.

What exactly did you try with Find/Replace?

 

From your description I'm not clear, if the anchor is at the beginning or perhaps at the end of the paragraph. Or somewhere else… A screenshot would help to see where you exactly anchored the vector graphic.

 

Expanding on Peter's idea with GREP Find/Replace, one should also be able to find the first insertion point of a paragraph (InDesign 2021 and 2022) where a distinct paragraph style is applied to and replace it with the contents of the clipboard.

 

The GREP pattern for find:

 

^

 

plus the applied paragraph style for your subhead.

 

Cut the anchor character of the perfectly anchored frame to the clipboard and set the GREP Replace pattern to:

 

~c

How do I put the paragraph style in Find text box ? 
I do not have the vector graphic handy instead I am using magenta box to explain.

I have copied Magenta box to put it in the clipboard.

Para style for my subheadings is "subhead"

I am searching for subhead parastyle in Find Format section and replacing with ~c

Screenshots attached. 

I am anchoring the magenta box at the end of subheading.
