Any way to make tables with variable no. of rows/columns

I've been automating some tasks in illustrator and inDesign lately with great results. Im new to the software btw. I've been using variables and can now update text, images, etc. from a command in excel, then export as .csv and create my graphics in no time.

Ideally, I would like to automate all the graphics that use tables too. The problem is the number of variables will change from week to week (i.e. number of rows/columns vary). In order to automate everything I need to be able to control the content from my excel sheet. Is there any way to specify number of rows/columns from outside indesign using variables, a script, or something else?

To specify; I need to automate some graphics consisting of tables (and headlines and such). These will be 2 columns and between c. 2-10 rows.

If I enter the data for the rows/columns in a spreadsheet, is there any way to import that to inDesign (like I do currently for my illustrator graphics using variables/libraries) and automatically create a table with the same number of rows since this variable will change on a weekly basis? Obviously I can create a count function for rows/columns in my spreadsheet, but not sure how or even if it is possible to implement this to an import to inDesign.

Hope it makes sense and that someone can help me out.
Kind regard

There's no need to specify columns and rows. Place each would-be cell content in a separate paragraph, then when you set both column and row seprators to paragraph break, you can indicate the number of columns, and InDesign figures out the rest. This works in the interface and in a script.
