Apply style and clear override globally

I have a plethora of para and char styles in several documents I am updating with a new font, but seems none of the applied styles will update (I am working on another designers files...) 

How can I Apply (style), clear overrides for all? Instead of selecting each type box or type content throughout...

This script can clear overrides in the entire document:

Look out for the common mistake of having a Character Style on at default affecting a lot of text. Since you mention that simply updating the paragraph style font choice is not succeeding, you might have a always-on character style messing things up.
