applying B master to page not working

I have InDesign 2019 CC on an Hp Windows 7 OS.

I created a new master by selecting A master-New-based on A. I want a page without text in order to place a photo collection. It worked on P 6

but not p 7

  1. I have applied B master to p6-7. But on P 7 the text box is still there. Should I have removed it before applying the master?
  2. Would it be better to just place the files in the text box area and choose Jump for Text wrap? I tried that but it is awkward.
  3. If I resize the text box and reflow the text would that leave me a blank page with no text? Trying to find a way around the B master

I am learning on the go here so any help is appreciated. When I imported my text file with anchored pictures they travelled a lot. Have to re-do so am hoping to do it right.

Correct answer davidblatner

Changing a document page from one master page to another can be tricky, especially after you have laid out the page. I know it seems like it should be simple, but it is not.

The problem is that once you have laid out a page (put text and graphics on the document page), you have applied overrides to the master page objects. So when you change the master page, the overrides stay… they remain overridden.

One option is to select the page in the Pages panel and choose Master Pages > Remove All Local Overrides from the Pages panel menu.

If you have text frames on both master page A and B, then you will want to use Primary Text frames. (I don't think you need that here.)

The photos are all out of place as you can see in the thread view. If I add a page would that help to get the format back in line where I have a text box and then most photos in a column on the side? Somehow they ended up on the spine.

Thank you David. I wanted to click correct but don't see the link. Is it

supposed to be below your reply?

I have worked around the problem by just removing the text box on that

page. fortunately the rest of the boxes remain threaded and i end up

with an A master I can place photos on . I have not yet dared to put a

small text box and then re-connect ti to the threaded ones.
