Applying Object Styles doesn't seems to work - or just not appearing on object

I've created an object style that includes a 3 pt stroke with a maroon color around an image box. The menu at top says those attributes are applied but you can't see the them on the image itself. I've attached a screenshot.

I'm using Indesign 19.5 in CC on a Mac mini desktop. I did try quitting and restarting. No luck.

Hi @MOD indy-go girl,

Thank you for reaching out! Here are helpful articles that might address the issue with applying object styles in InDesign and provide guidance for troubleshooting:

1. [Use object styles to format objects in an InDesign document](#)
2. [Object paragraph styles not applying](#)

These resources should help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue. Additionally, could you let us know if this problem is limited to a particular file or if it happens in all new files you create from scratch? This will help us better understand the scope of the issue.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

Best,
Abhishek Rao

Thanks @Abhishek Rao. I did look at those articles and couldn't find the solution there. As I mentioned in my response to @jmlevy, the issue seems to happen when I copy and paste the image box from another page. When I create new boxes and applied the object style after, that seems to work. I guess my work-around is just to start with new image boxes. Not a big deal given the way I'm setting up this document.

Hi @MOD indy-go girl

your object style is actually applied to your picture. The brown stroke is visible when you zoom in your screenshot. I think that you are confused because it seems to be aligned on the inside of the frame.

Thanks for your input @jmlevy . The stroke is actually applied to the middle, but that's not the issue. It's the size of the stroke. I've attached a screenshot that shows what a 3 pt stroke should look like. The issue seems to happen when I copy and paste from another page. When I create new boxes, like the two I created to the left of it, and applied the object style after, that seems to work. I guess my work-around is just to start with new image boxes. Not a big deal given the way I'm setting up this document.

If you are applying the style to an image, the stroke won't show up. You need to make sure you have the frame/object selected.

@MOD indy-go girl

Can you share a sample INDD document? Just INDD file - without any links / fonts.

Or maybe your document is corrupted? Try IDMLing - export as IDML, open, save with a new name - do not overwrite your original file.

Thanks for your response. I was on a major deadline and didn't have time to solve this. I found a work-around: just deleting those image boxes and re-placing the photos. It was just a few instances, so not worth the time to solve.
