Are you able to edit a glyph throughout an entire document?

Hey InDesign community, I was wondering if any of you were please able to help me. 🙂

I have found the most wonderful typeface which I have installed onto my computer. When I use it in InDesign all looks great, except the spacebar glyph is massive and the words are all so far apart.

Is there any way I can edit the spacebar glyph so that it is narrower, across the entire document?

Thank you!

If it is the space, the easiest way is to edit your paragraph style:

1. Open the paragraph style panel

2. Edit the paragraph style

3. Go to Justification (in some versions it is called Finetuning)

4. Edit the Word Spacing.

You should do as suggested by others - or you could edit this font - there are special tools for that - and make the space "smaller" permanently.

Or pay someone to do it for you.

As @Peter Spier wrote, you can apply an horizontal scale to the space character to narrow it, then once you have found the right setting, create a character style with the appropriate scaling and create a GREP style using this character style:

You can use Find/Change to find the glyph and cahnge it's horizontal scale.

In the find formatting choose the font and leave everything else blank. In the change formatting set the horizontal scale to the desired percentage.
