Automatic Numbering of All New Text

Hi everyone,

I accidentally set my document so that any new text box automatically applies numbering as if I'm making a list, and I can't figure out how to undo the setting. I understand how to undo numbering of an individual text box, but I'd like to not have to keep doing it every time I create a new text box. Any ideas?

Thank you!

You could have set the default text formatting for your document to include the list type of Number set (or, you could have set this when no documents were open, and it applies to all documents). Deselect all text frames. Click the Type tool. Go to the Control panel menu (far right) > Bullets & Numbering and turn list type to None.

Or, you could have based a paragraph style on the Basic Paragraph Style, and that style has Bullets & Numbering set to a list type of Numbers. Change to None.

Thanks so much, Steve! The Control panel menu worked and it is making my life much easier.
