Hi folks,
Is there a way to create multiple qr codes using an excel file?
My goal is to add several qr codes in a catalog, there are a hundred pages with several qr codes. it's very long especially since I have to change the links after translating the catalog.
Thanks
Cedric

Not sure if DataMerge can do it - but you probably need to place those QR codes in some specific places - so script should be the only solution - what platform? How do script should find destinations for the QR codes ?

Hi Robert! Thanks for your interes.
Yes I thought of DataMerge, but this solution is not suitable because it generates a new file, in my case these are unique qr codes and which are not all placed in the same places on the pages.
I don't know anything about scripting, I don't know if it's still possible.
If anyone has a solution, I'm all ears!

Hi,
You can create QRcodes with Datamerge, see here for details (https://creativepro.com/data-merge-qr-codes-explained/)
Once that is said, yes, it will create a new document no matter what. And it's a totally separate process. In your case, I am sorry but you basically need a script if you want to automate this. I am certain that you can find people that will either deliver the code for free or ask for a relatively small fee. But the ROI may be profitable if you compare it to the time you will spend adding those QRCodes manually (and maintain them).
If you don't know to script, it may be worth buying the script from someone. Or you learn it and it's free, apart from your time 😉
And I can't prevent myself from remembering that those issues can be easily managed with Catalog automation plugins 😉

Hi Cédric,
@Loic.Aigon is right. A script is a very good way to do this. I can generate a script for you. This is great training for me. A question is a deadline for the task. I'll send you my contacts in a private message if you want to share the task.
In time: a few months ago I made a poster for a design exhibition — which I was invited to exhibit — using about 120 QRs and assembled the piece using a script I made. It turned out amazing and they were random as a destination and also the colors applied to the QRs.

Script for that is a few minutes job 😉 it would already be sorted, unfortunately, I'm not JS guy and OP is on a Mac 😞

I have no doubts about such minutes and I admire that. At some point I get there. But at the moment I'm already out of the starting line but there's still a lot of ground for me to reach, in my dream so much: "a few minutes". Not to mention the other demands here at the office that cannot stop. I liked this metric... I'll get there. 😃

Yes, of course, we all have some chores to do first 😞

Thanks 🙂 The problem is - I'm extremely good with scripting - but hate doing descriptions 😞 and too many things are too obvious for me so I always miss to mention them 😞 and it's tedious 😉

Hi Brito, that sound's great!
I'm not in a rush, I just finished the catalog, but since I have to redo it twice a year in several languages, I'm starting to wonder if it was possible to automate this.
I've a question, do you think that with a script it will be possible to generate the qr codes at different defined places and then have the possibility of updating them?
Thank you

Yes! Once the script is ready you can run it as many times as you need. I've been using XML + Scripts to build up to date catalogs around here. It's beautiful to see the "magic" happening.
If you agree, I do want to make this script. It will be quite an exercise. In order not to saturate, and deviate from the original message here in the post, I sent you a direct. There's my email. Let's go there. Can be?
Then we can even share it here so that someone else can also benefit from some free time with the family with this increment.
Get ready! An upgraded Adobe Community experience is coming in January.
