Backup discontinued plugin for InDesign

Hi Community,

i have an issue with a discontinued third-party plugin for InDesign. Its about Translator-DeepL, which was replaced by the developer with the Translator Pro plugin. Sadly, the new plugin does not support a Layers Translation, which was working with the Translator-DeepL Version.

The Layers translation is what all our documents are based on and we need to continue with it, its basically one of the high rated arguments we are using InDesign in our Company.

However, the Plugin isnt available in the store, even for me and i bought it about 2 or 3 years ago. But it is still enabled and working on my current InDeisgn 2024 version. Since i need to install it on a newer computer with new Azure-based username, i need to find a way how to backup the existing Plugin and install it on the new PC. In the Creative Suite Plugins manager, its not shown.

I also searched a lot of forums for the plugin folder / path, but i could not find it. I also tried to copy the whole plugin folder from C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign 2024\Plug-Ins, but it was not working. Does anyone has experience with that plugin or can help how to deal with this?

Thanks,

Marc

Didn't take me that many seconds with Google to figure out where CEP plugins (which I assume this is, considering it is a couple of years old) are supposedly installed:

  • Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CEP\extensions\

  • Mac: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/

Just downloaded a plugin and can confirm that at least the location specified for Mac was correct, but I do not have access to any machines with Windows to verify that location.

Did you look in the scripts folder?

Thanks for your answer. I just copied C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign\Version 19.0\de_DE\Scripts and the one from  C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign 2024\Scripts, but still have no Plugin on the new PC.

Is there any location i may missed?

Have you contacted the developer? Because even if you get it copied over there's no assurance it will work.
