Best practice to create spacing between paragraphs?

Okay, so I have made a paragraph style called "Quotes" (the red text) that I have put spacing before and after. It works when there is only one quote in the "Main copy" (the cyan text). But when there is two quotes following each other I get to much space between the paragraphs (see attached screenshot). Whats the best practice to get rid of that space and do it correctly?

Or there's a trick for a one column format:

Currently what I think is going on... Good spacing for one quote, too much for two:

So, minimize the spacing on the Indents and Spacing and then...

Designate the quote as a Span which allows you to set the space above and below separately. It's not "meant" for this, but works perfectly for a 1-column document.

    Give it a shot.

It works perfect in my test document, THANKS! But as soon as i try to implement it in the real document (1200 pages with 4300 footnotes) Indesign crashes :-(. Do you have any tips for it to prevent the crash or anyway to decrease the file?

Yes, break the 1200 page file into chapters or sections. And pull them back together via a book.

Make another style to use for the quotes that follow other quotes. This style will only have Space after.

Good idea :-) Is there a command or anything that I can use or do I have to do it manually for each one?
