Blending Modes, Stroke - Indesign 17.2.1

Is anyone having trouble with blending modes? Mine are not working at all at the moment.

When I click on the dropdown menu on the effects panel it just disappears. 

I've also noticed bizarre things happening with strokes recently. When I increase the point value the outline on the object doesn't change. I have to type it in manually instead which isn't ideal.

The scissors tool is also not working for me? I'm not sure whats going on as I've never had these sorts of isuues before...!

I've just updated to the newest inDesign app as I figured these problems were bugs from the previous version however I'm still having the same problems 😞

Sometimes, when you do an InDesign update, it's helpful to restore your preferences and caches to fix issues like that. Here are some instructions:
