I have a book project with 20 chapters, each in a different InDesign document. Each was created using the same template so they have the same dimensions, margins, styles, etc.

I now need to experiment with a different sized page and some different styles.

What is the easiest way to propogate these changes through all 20 documents?

In the book panel menu there are Synchronize Options and Synchronize Book commands. With all your files in the book, click to the left of the file that has for formatting that you want. It will become the source for synchronizing. Select all the files you want to synchonize and use the Synchronize Book command. That will take care of the style changes.

As far as changing page size, it's not possible using the book commands. You would need a script. This one could work for  you: Batch change page size of InDesign documents
