Booklet pdf resolution quality

I have been attempting to export a high quality pdf with the “Print Booklet” option in InDesign.

However, despite specifying “High Resolution” in the Advanced Print Settings and despite specifying “All” for the Graphics “Images”/ “Send Data”, I still find that the pdf produces a fuzzy result for certain of the placed graphics (e.g. all the .psd graphics (which, incidentally, turn out much crisper if I use the 'normal' Adobe “High Quality Print” pdf preset.  But if I use this then I don’t achieve the booklet impositon).

I would like to know if it’s possible to apply the Adobe “High Quality Print” preset to the “Print Booklet” function.  If not, then how is one supposed to produce a good Booklet pdf for printing ??

      Are you printing to the Adobe PDF print driver on Windows?

      What are the PDF settings you are using--the default is Standard, which is not very good.

      If using Windows, open the Print Booklet dialog box.

      Click the Print Settings... button.

      Change print driver to Adobe PDF.

      Click the Setup... button. (Click OK on the warning dialog box.)

      In the Windows Print dialog box, click the Preferences button.

      Change the Default Settings to desired settings.

      (Let me know if you need screen captures.)

      After you reply, I can tell you how to permanently change the Adobe PDF print driver to your desired settings.

      Try making a custom setting in Acrobat Distiller.

      Below are a conservative settings example and a smaller file size example (that will still print fine).


      To permanently change your Adobe Print driver default settings...

      (If you customize your Distiller settings, make/save as a new setting first.)

      Open your Windows Settings dialog box.

      Click on Devices section.

      Select the Printers & Scanners sub-section.

      Click on the Adobe PDF driver in the list.

      Click on the Manage button.

      In the new dialog box, click on the Printing Preferences sub-section.

      Change the Default Settings to the one you want.
