Broken links in CC Libraries

Hi All,

I've recently started supporting a new company and they have a team of designers using Indesign 2024 on Mac OS.

Somone has moved a master .png folder from the file server to a new location and the links in the teams CC Libraries are now all broken.

My question is this:  Does every individual need to relink the images themselves or can one person re-link and propogate the re-link for everyone?

Thanks for the advice.

Jason

Thanks for the advice Rob.  I checked the path on a number of the images and it showed the old location.

I was told that the CC Library is owned by one user and then the rest of the team are invited; but it turns out everyone had created their own CC Library, all with the same name and same assets. Once they all re-linked the images. The issue was resolved.  Not that they were happy to have to re-link everything though.

Hi @Jason JLS , How the image was added to the CC Library affects the link path. If you drag a placed image from ID into the library it is listed as an IDMS and would have a local path:

If the image is added from Photoshop it‘s lised as a PSD and has a CC Libraries path and a cloud link icon:

Keep in mind that even though the path is to a cloud library, there is still a sync’d local copy—it’s buried in the System folder. A lot of PSD assets could take up significant space on the collaborator’s startup drives.

If all the designers have access to company libraries on the server, and if the PNG folder was moved back to its proper position, all the designers will probably be prompted to update the asset (but would not have to move the asset themselves).

Thanks for the reply and info Steve.  I've asked them to do just that but getting some resistance.

If the library is in one colleagues creative cloud and the other members were invited to collaborate; should the links update when the owner relinks the assets?

I believe it should. But the others invited to collaborate may need to click "Update" to get the latest version.

Thanks Steve, I'll do some follow up tests.  Appreciate the advice.
