Bullets and numbering

Hi there

I'm new to the forum and would really appreciate some help, sorry in advance if there is an obvious answer and I am just being a bit thick.

I use the numbering and bullet points function a lot, but I do find it frustrating that if I have blank lines in between/separating each line of text that I wish to bullet point, that when I left click and highlight the complete list that I wish to bullet point that it will by default apply bullet points to those blank lines.

The only way around I know around this issue is to either highlight each line I wish to bullet point individually, or from the toolbar, select the 'type' option and use the remove bullets option.

Is there any default option available that will only apply bullet points to lines with text? (in the same manner that 'word' has been quite happily managed to do for years.

Any help gratefully appreciated

A better option would be to not have blank paragraph returns between your bullets. InDesign has paragraph spacing tools for that purpose. This way you can select your text all at once, and have better control over the spacing.

    Hi Susan,

    You're right of course! …

A funny way using a para rule above to create the dot whose color is canceled by a grep style!!
