Question

Can Adobe In Design “sort” by frequency—that is, how many times something appears in a list?

Friends,

I have a super long list of names, and I desire to know WHICH TUNES are used the most.

That is to say, which tunes are the most popular.  The ones that occur more than any other ones.

Can Adobe “In Design” do this function?

Here's a sample of my list (but the entire thing is much, much longer):

You could do this in Excel (or Access). An Excel table can then be placed as link into InDesign.

I agree with Jane-E, this could be done in Excel. The formula to use is countif. Watch this video for more info: How to Count the number of times something appears in a spreadsheet - YouTube

If the answer wasn't in my post, perhaps it might be on my blog at colecandoo!

Where is the data source for each .PDF to see its popularity? Or do you mean to sort by keywords in the files name to see which ones are listed the most in your batch of files?

It is just a big list—and I desire to know which ones are used the most frequently
