Can fixed layout epubs contain short video clips? Around 2 minutes. The major intended audience is iPad users. However, it would be nice if it work on Android/Windows machines as well (Edge browser? Thorium??)

Yes. Use MPEG 4 files. And yes, Thorium would be my choice for Windows, but Android is a black hole.

Keep in mind those videos will really blow up the file size.

Thanks. Your blog post on the Android/Windows problem was very helpful!

It's pretty old, but sadly, not a whole lot has changed.

EPUB is probably the worst 'standard' in play these days. It so desperately needs a revamp—an "HTML5" transformation—and then apps and a community that will quit trying to hack their own advances and shortcuts.

Not a speck on the horizon that I can see, though.

Bob, another question, if I may: what does Ajar provide for fixed layout epubs that isn't available in InDesign CC?

It's a completely different animal with way more flexibility. It takes advantage of the old DPS overlays and outputs to HTML so you can view it in any modern browser.
