Can't Apply Text Color from CC Library in InDesign 2020

Hello,

I am a very experienced user with InDesign and am having trouble with the lastest update. I have just updated to inDesign version 15.0 and am having some trouble with applying colors from a CC Library.

I can no longer change the color of text using a swatch from my CC library. InDesign is only allowing me to change the background/stroke color of the text box, not the actual text itself. I have made certain that I am in "Formatting Affects Text (J)" mode. I have tried both CMYK and RGB swatches. Neither will apply color to my text.

Any help you could provide would be great, thanks!

Srishti,

I think I may have solved my own issue. In the process of collaborating with others on the file it seems that the "Tint %" in the Color menu was set to zero. So the CC Library menu was corerctly applying the color that I had chosen, but InDesign continued to display the text as white because the tint percentage was set at zero.

I'll see myself out now...time for more coffee

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. At my end, I could easily change the text color from CC libraries.

I would request if you can share a few more details like:

  • Operating System
  • Was it working fine in previous versions?
  • Is the issue related to a specific document(s)/asset(s)? If yes, could you please share the document(s)/asset(s) with us? You can upload it to the creative cloud and share the download link.

We’re here to help, just need more info.

Regards,

Srishti

Thanks for the reply, Srishti.

After some further investigation, I think the problem may be limited to the specific file that I am working on and not all of my files.

InDesign Version: 15.0.0.155.
Operating System:
Windows 10 Pro
Version 1903
OS build: 18362.356

Was it working fine in previous versions?
Changing text color from Adobe CC library was working fine in previous versions.

Is the issue related to a specific document(s)/asset(s)?
The problem seems to only be specific to one document at the moment. CC Libraries appear to be working fine on other files. In fact, the issue only seems to be happening on certain text boxes.
Here is a link to the file that I'm working on: *removed**
Here is a link to the colors that I am using in CC libraries: **removed*

Additionally, I am attaching a screen recording which shows the problem that I am having. Some text boxes allow me to change text color using CC library. Other text boxes do not. Some text boxes let me use CC library colors only after I have manually applied a color first using the color menu or swatches.

So expressoilchange,

what's your operating system and version of your CC Desktop App?

Oops. Cannot see it yet in my CC Desktop App but someone at Adobe announced two hours ago that InDesign CC 2020 version 15.0.0.155 is gone live…

Hm. Did not know that the next version of InDesign is already released. What's your exact version?

( With no document open hold the Ctrl key or Cmd key and see About InDesign … )

If you are referring to a Prerelease version of InDesign best do a bug report at Prerelease.
