Can't clear recent fonts no matter what I do

I can't get away from these 6 fonts no matter what I do. I have cleared and restarted and uninstalled the program several times. I have checked and unchecked and rechecked the glyph protection and the # of missing fonts. 

 

Up to date InDesign 2024

Running macOS 14.2.1 (23C71)

 

The problem comes when I want to scroll through fonts and it keeps jumping back to these 6 fonts.

Few things to try

Try resetting your preferences:

Windows: Start InDesign, and then press Shift+Ctrl+Alt. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
macOS: While pressing Shift+Option+Command+Control, start InDesign. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
A dialog will appear asking to delete the InDesign Preferences, select 'Yes' on this dialog.

Few things to try

Recent fonts actually appear above the colored emoji fonts, so if it makes you feel any better, you have mananged to hide those. (I know, it doesn't.) My recent fonts are Acumin Pro, Minion 3 and Myriad Pro. Then comes the grouping that is bothering you, followed by the alphabetical listing. There's not much about the groupings explained online—but I can see that Photoshop creates the same emoji grouping, and while Illustrator adds them to the top of the alphabetical list. 

 

 

My question is why are your other fonts showing up in that emoji group. I'm guessing corruption (though honestly not sure) but a regular uninstall doesn't necessarily address it. It leaves remnants behind that the new installation finds and uses. You could either:

Overall, the font lists on both OSes and thus in Adobe stuff provokes a lot of griping, mostly about the endless list of system fonts that are useless to any 92.5% of the user base.

 

In this case, I'd open a few test documents and update styles with a few more normal/used fonts for a few minutes, to push these weirdos out of the recent list.
