Can't delete a text box

Community Beginner ,

Hi all,

I originally set up my contents page of my document at the beginning of the process. Now that I return to it to correct page number, I cannot delete one particular text box.

As shown the text box with '42' is unable to be selected. I thought this might just be a processing error and that it wouldn't show up when I restarted the program but it still remains. When I exported the file it is still there. A also checked the master page to make sure it wasn't on there but it's not.  I am trying to replace it with the '28' as shown.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Sam

This looks like a text frame with a bunch of text frames either stacked on top of it or achored within it. You can't select text in multiple frames unless they are linied, and you can't link anchored text frames.

Check the layers panel. You can click the arrow beside it to see into the layers and how they're stacked.

It might have a lock symbol beside it - preventing it from being selected.

If you locate it - you can select it by clicking the empty square on the right.
