Can't draw a straight line - In Design

New Here ,

For some reason, all of a sudden, I'm unable to draw a completely horizontal or vertical line in InDesign without holding down the shift key.  When I attempt to draw a straight line the program appears to push the line over or snap it to a grid point so it's on an angle.  I didn't knowingly change any settings.  Any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it??

Try turning off Smart Guides. The end point might be snapping to a nearby edge.

After turning them off and on again it seems to be not reoccurring anymore.  Thanks again for your help!

You can't, InDesign can.
