Can't edit CC Libraries

Community Beginner ,
Mar 22, 2024 Mar 22, 2024

Hello, since the last update of the Adobe Creative Cloud app, I can't edit anymore the CC Libraries.

I can see them, use them by placing elements from a CC Libraries into the document but i can't edit an element from the Libraries.

I can create a new Library but I can't place anything in it, it keeps loading but then fail.

The panel says that all the sync is ok.

I'm using CC2013, Ventura.

Thanks!

Hi,

Sorry to hear about the trouble. Please try the steps shared below:

-Sign out of Adobe InDesign & Adobe CC Desktop app.

-Close Adobe CC Sync Services & other Adobe processes from the Task Manager/Activity Monitor.

-Reboot the computer.
-Sign back on the Adobe CC Desktop app and launch InDesign from there and check again.

Let us know if this helps or if you need further assistance.

Thanks

Rishabh

Hi, thank for the reply.

I tried to:

- Sign out from Adobe CC Desktop app

- Close all the Adobe processes from Activity Monitor.

- Reboot Mac

- Sign in again and launch Indesign from the app.

Still not working.

I tried also the cleaner tool, same problem

To me the problem seems started after the last update of the Creative Cloud App.

In a Indesign facebook community a lot of other people seem to have the same problem, so i don't think it's a problem of my computer and it worked fine since two weeks ago.

It is really a huge problem for team that use CC Libraries.

What versions of Ventura are you using? If you're not updated to the latest version then anything before 13.5 can cause issues in InDesign.

I have been having the same problem for several weeks. MacOS Monterey 12.7.1 and Ventura (2 different MacBook Pros).

A co-worker with macOS Sonoma is having the same issues.

Adobe Creative Cloud version 6.1.0.587

InDesign CC2024 18.5.1

I've tried all the usual things like logging out of CC and etc. to no avail.
This is a serious issue that is causing work delays on our team.

We are having the same issue since last week - was intermittent but now seems to be all new items and items we edit and save in the CC library. Working on Macs with Sonoma 14.4. I get an error when opening a file from Creative Cloud with InDesign closed - "This item isn't directly editable in InDesign, but it can be placed in a document. To place the item, drag it into an open document." (but no error at all when trying to open from in InDesign - just doesn't open.) While that is true, I need edit the item once it has been placed. This is a huge issue and essentially makes our CC library non-functional.

same problem here.

I've got a whoel studio of people who've relied on using indesign libraries for 15+ years.

Now they can't be edited even by their owner - which means they're virtually useless.

I can't see an answer anywhere.

This is shocking.

I was having the same problem here. And I've just figured out how to solve it:

Consider creating a test object in your library to test it before using in your main files, but here is how you can update safely:

- Click to edit your library object
- Make a simple edition

- And just SAVE IT and watch your library update it. Don't close + save. It should work perfectly.

This problem only happens when you try to close + save, that is causing your object to broke forever.

I reported adobe almost two months ago about this problem, and didn't receive any answers. Thank me later Adobe.

Spread the word, this was annoying me so much. I found the solution 5 minutes ago.

I don't get it - I can't edit any of my objects in my Library and I can't create new objects and drag them into the Library - nothing happens.

That is a different problem. We are walking about people that can add new things, but we can't update/edit after in the library.  That is the question of @LORETTA36223610kh16

I don't know what problem you were haivng, but it's not the one we're discussing.

I can't even open a library item, let alone edit it.

Can't create new ones either.

The problem that @LORETTA36223610kh16 asked about was that: she can add new things to the lib, but she can't update/edit after in the library, because it breaks.  That is the question.

If can't even open the library, you have another problem to fix first.

Thank you! This does seem to work! We have an open case with Adobe but the last word was that this issue has been fixed in the upcoming release for Creative Cloud, but no ETA on when that would be released. Now we just have to go back and recreate all of the locked files....

LATEST

Since we had the libraries exported, we were able to try the above and it let us edit the files, save them back into the libraries. We were able to drag and drop and edit them within the documents.  For now this is a really helpful work around for our team! Adobe does owe you a HUGE shout out!
