Trying to export the ad. It consist from 3 separate InDesign files that already have been exported in different combination.

Today I've got an update and indesign keeps on crashing on this one. Any suggestions?

Does the placed file contain any PostScript Type 1 fonts?

Have you tried to package the file. It will tell you of any potential problems and save a pdf. You can change the quality of pdf in there too.

Hi Jumpenjax,

One can check if the file is alright for publishing by using preflight, without having to make a package. 🙂
The export problems have nothing to do with the quality of the pdf. Smallest size gave an error too.

Hi @it55113440 @Graphic Fruits @Rene Andritsch @mk-will ,

I was unable to reproduce the issue on 18.2 and macOS. So would you mind sharing a small video of the complete workflow and the error for testing?

We'll try our best to assist you with this.

Did anyone try out my method I posted about originally?

Since the last update (18.2) I suddenly can't export to pdf with one object being linked to another InDesign file.

In a magazine i've always had the cover linked to another InDesign file where i edited the cover seperately from the magazine. Suddenly I could not export to pdf, getting a error message. Then I made a pdf from the cover and placed the pdfs in the magazine. Then i could export to pdf.
I checked with preflight, there were no font issues or colour issues in the cover. The problem really occured directly after the update.

Hi, @Graphic Fruits ,

did you install a beta version?

I am not seeing a 18.2 update in my CC app (Germany) either (like @Rene Andritsch ).

And what version of InDesign was used to create the linked InD-file?

Regards

Stephan

No, it's the original InDesign, automatically updated through creatice cloud.

The linked InDesign file was also 18.2, since i checked if something was wrong with it and saved it again.

Hi @it55113440 ,

Sorry to hear about the trouble you are experiencing while exporting pdf from InDesign. Would you mind sharing a few more details like:

  1. The version of the Operating System.
  2. Are you getting an error while exporting the pdf from InDesign, or is the pdf getting exported, however you're unable to open that pdf in InDesign?
  3. Is this happening with a specific file or multiple files?
  4. Will it be possible for you to share the file with us? You can add the file to a shared location and share the link through DM by clicking on my name.
  5. Where is the file saved locally on your computer or any network location?

We're here to help - Just need more information.

Thanks

Rishabh

If a document is not behaving well then try

File>Export

Choose IDML

Open the IDML in InDesign
Save the file as a new InDesign file with a new name
See if the issue persists.

As you have 3 linked InDeisgn files you may have to perform the same steps and update the 3 links in your document.

-----------------------------------------

Try resetting your preferences:

Windows: Start InDesign, and then press Shift+Ctrl+Alt. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
macOS: While pressing Shift+Option+Command+Control, start InDesign. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
A dialog will appear asking to delete the InDesign Preferences, select 'Yes' on this dialog.
