Hi, not a pro here, clearly.
I am trying to save a poster to either jpg or pdf, but cannot.
I created a poster by using a similar one from last year and just changing all the relevant info (dates, images, etc.) but when I try to "export" either to pdf or jpg, I get either a "pdf export failed" or a blank jpg.
I then took last year's poster and exported to jpg, and no problem: poster exported just fine.
I'm confused...!
Export may fail when linked data is corrupt. If you want finding the error, delete half of the pages, export. If the export fails, delete half of the pages again and export. When the export succeeds, look into the deleted pages. You can use the delete trick to further isolate the culprit.
As soon as you have isolated the problematic page(s), you can look into how to work around the problem.

I'm still confused...
Tried saving in different locations. I was able to export another new file created in the same way (took a file from last year and just changed the images - same images as in the document that's causing me grief - and no problems exporting to pdf
I get this error message: Version 4icc profiles were converted to version 2icc profiles during export... conversion failed

lokilo2 ,
If conversion fails that means one or more of your pages might be too complex (in other words, they contain too many vector objects). To troubleshoot, follow these steps:
Also make sure that there should not be problem with following things.
1.) Links - make ensure that your links are working. If your links are displayed in the wrong place, export your document for viewing on the screen
2.) Fonts - Make sure your fonts are embedded in the document you upload by exporting with fonts.
3.) Text - You do not export your text as outlines.
4.) Layout - Try a different PDF version and replace your vector graphics with bitmaps.
As a final attempt, try re-saving your PDF in Preview for Mac (or similar software on a PC), as it can sometimes remove unknown errors.
If nothing works then please go through this thread you may find some extra solution over here :

Your link describes a situation that should not be a problem any more as Indesign now is a 64bits application.

I figured it out! Yes, it was a corrupt file/image. Can I just say WHEWWWW!
It came to me this morning while running. Yesterday, one of the last things I did was to view the page in "Overprint Preview," and while most of the page looked fine, I saw a blank space where I had previously had problems with a corrupt image. It didn't occur to me at that point (yesterday) to double check and see if I had correctly deleted that corrupt image. This, I thought of while running this morning.
Sure enough, came home, saw that the corrupt image was still linked to the file. Made sure the corrupt file was correctly deleted and... taDAH... it worked!!!
