Can’t Move Pages and Texts/Objects with Selection Tool

New Here ,

I can’t move object boxes or text boxes using the Selection tool anymore. I also can’t move around the pages as I normally would. Is there a setting I may have accidentally changed that’s restricting movement?

Just lately on this forum, there are many people reporting that the latest Windows 11 patch update KB5050094 is causing this problem. Go to Windows Update > Update History > Uninstall Update and find just the update KB5050094 and uninstall it.

I'm having this same issue and saw another post recently (posted Feb 7) with the same issue. I've don't all the suggested troubleshooting other than letting my computer sit overnight (which miraculously worked to fix this problem for someone). Did you also have a recent Windows update (mine updated yesterday). I'm wondering if the update broke ID. This is very frustrating.

YES. This worked for me. I uninstalled the most recent update KB5051987 and my InDesign is now fixed and I can drag objects again.

I have KB5050094 installed and didn't experience this issue then, but the latest update that installed today broke my ID. I suspected Windows killed it. Thanks Mike!

You're welcome. Some are suggesting to allow the patch AND the next patch after it to fix the matter.

More cautiously, I would suspend Windows from doing any patches for the next month or so.

Thank you for the note. I tried uninstalling the updates, but that didn’t resolve my problem. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling InDesign, but the problem still isn't resolved. Our Network Administrator reached out to Adobe and was informed that this is a known issue affecting many users. They expect to fix it soon with an upcoming update.
