Can't open InDesign CS4 files in CS4 on Mac

My CS4 has worked right for years but today InDesign CS4 suddenly can't open InDesign CS4 files or create a new document.

Nothing has changed in the computer, no new software or plugins. All other software & hardware working as normal. The dialog box for opening files comes up, but when I click to open, the box disappears and nothing more happens. On creating new document, I get an empty box in the middle of the screen, nothing to click.

Using Mac with OS 10.13

Strange!

CS4 doesn't work at all in macOS 10.13 High Sierra. That is your problem.

You can either (1) roll back to an earlier OS, or (2) upgrade to a Creative Cloud subscription.

Drat! I have taken a holy oath never to use subscription software. So I guess this is The End. Goodbye and thanks for all the fish!

CS4 came out in 2008. I hope you had a good nine years with it. You might make it last longer if you didn't feel the need to upgrade to mac OS 10.13.
