I can't save or undo in inDesign 2021

This happens often at the moment and I have to force quit.

This seems to be some issue with indesign and Wacom.

Turn off the touch function on your Wacom tablet when using indesign an the problem should stop.

Having the exakt same annoying problem.

Indesign 2021, running OSX 11.2.1 Big Sur on an Macbook Pro 16,1.

Hi All,

Sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind sharing version of the OS?
You may try resetting the preferences of the app manually as instructed below:

For Windows

Close all Adobe applications.
Go to Locations :
C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Adobe
C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Adobe.
Rename InDesign folders to InDesign.old
Launch InDesign from CC.

For MAC

Close all adobe applications
Go to Locations:
~/Library/Caches
~/Library/Preferences
Rename Adobe InDesign and com.adobe.indesign to Adobe InDesign.old and com.adobe.indesign.old
Launch InDesign from the CC

***Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and InDesign will launch with default settings. This way all your old settings will be saved in .old folders and InDesign will recreate new folders with default settings.

I'm having the same problem.

Suddenly I can't Undo anymore and it's not possible to Save or Save As.

So I have to export an Idml file to not lose everything.

It must be fixed in a hurry! Help us!

I have the exact same problem. I cannot save, undo or save as. Started happening in Indesign 2020 every so often, upgraded to Indesign 2021, now if happens very often (5 times just today). Running macOS Catalina 10.15.7, was going to upgrade to Big Sur, but a co-worker of mine is having issues with Big Sur, with Illustrator.

Man this is starting to get really annoying now... any help would be apreciated!! Wasting time loosing work now

This started hapening again with 2020 now.

I deleted all versions of indesign with prefrences and reinstalled 2021 —

When I opened that app it was displaying history from a year ago.

All was working well for most of the day and then it started hapening again.

What's up developers? Where's the bug?

That's upsetting. My first thought is save and save often.

Are recovery files being generated when you force quit? Check the folder specified by InDesign > Preferences > File Handling > Document Recovery Data.

Is this happening with one file or all files? Did you upgrade from 2020? Did you migrate preferences files?

Yeah this has been since I upgraged to 2021

If I force quit the data recovery has been ok it's just a pain I have had this happen about 6 times today.

Back to 2020 for now.

Illustrator has been buggy too so I am on 2020 with that also.
