Cannot save or export InDesign file version 14.0.1, Error code:1

My colleague sent me a design file that she worked on. I can open the file but whenever I want to save or export, it doesn't allow me to do so. It gives "error code: 1" damaged file.

Do you have the same versions of InDesign and OTF fonts?

Get her to resend it as a IDML file.

We are extremely sorry to hear about this. As per your query, you are unable to open a particular file which is sent by your colleague. I would request if you could share a few more details like:

  • Operating system(Exact Version of Windows/MAC)
  • Screenshot of the error
  • Where the files are saved(Network Drive/ Google Drive/ Dropbox/ System HDD/ Shared Folder on System /External HDD) and where are you trying to save/export the files?
  • Is it giving the error on other files as well?
  • Have you tried to save the files on any other location like the desktop or hard drive?
