Change font and text size

I am trying to change the font and text size in a text box.  Can someone give me a simple instruction please?

    1. Find the Character panel. (Window menu > Type and Tables > Character panel
    2. Select the text in the Frame
    3. Change your Type Family and Style within that Family in the Character panel.
    4. Change the Point Size in the Character panel.
