Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. Would you please elaborate what you are looking for? You may also share screenshots or a small video of the process as well to help us understand it better. It'll help us answer you accordingly.
You may also check out Community Thread https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign/rectangle-frame-tool-vs-rectangle-tool/td-p/10211166 to know difference between Rectangle Frame vs Rectangle tool. Let us know if it helps.

I'll go ahead and assume you want to convert objects made with the Rectangle tool to behave as objects that were made with the Rectangular Frame tool.

Select all the rectangle objects and choose > Object > Content > Graphic

Keeping in mind that the Rectangle tool draws unassigned frames, and that the Rectangle Frame tool draws graphic frames, in additon to manually changing the frame with Object > Content, you can just select an unassigned frame (drawn with the Rectangle tool) and place an image into it—it will automatically convert to a graphic frame. You don't have to do anything else.
